How the
Charity Golf Event began...
|
Once upon
a time... as all good stories
start... I sent out an offer to raise my profile on a networking
site. Having had quite a few responses, one of them came back
and said would I mind changing his to a charity event he was
organising and forwarded me an email which went something like
this:
My name
is Ian Broughall, and in 1985, I was diagnosed with testicular
teratoma cancer. Following almost a year of painful chemotherapy,
I survived, and since then I have worked with Bob Champion, who
as I am sure you know, also recovered from exactly the same cancer.
Please could you help me to promote my upcoming event, and may
be your September Charity of the Month. On Thursday 25th September
2008, there will be a Charity Golf and Dinner day.
The Golf will be at The CAMBRIDGE Meridian Golf Course in Toft,
and the Dinner will be held at The ‘Q’ Belfry Hotel
in Cambourne, Cambridge.
BOB CHAMPION WILL ATTEND BOTH EVENTS
I am also holding a “SPECIALITY AUCTION”. The Auction
currently includes: The Cat O’ Nine Tails hardback book,
written and signed by Lord J Archer
Memories hardback book written and signed by Elaine Paige. September
2008 publication. - Yellow & Orange Tulips - A painting donated
by Canadian artist Ms Iris ten Holder

Within a matter of days I
took a trip to London, attended a meeting with some lovely people,
took a trip to Cambridge to a great golf course
and a delightful
hotel and somehow 2 weeks
later we have all sorts of things going on. I hope to keep this
website up to date as often as I can and would be delighted to
know if something is no longer working as it should. We now have
lots of people coming to what is turning into a fabulous networking opportunity... mainly men
so we have buggy
babes and burlesque dancers planned... We have promises of teams for golf
and tables for for dinner as well as an event photographer, a toastmaster and a great auction company with
sporting and other memorabilia.. What we could really do with
is some sponsorship... Sponsor a hole
from just £35, a buggy babe from £100 or give
a figure and let me be creative for you - all of it is going
to great causes as you can see and it looks like we are in for
a fun-filled
event. All sponsors can add
to the 180
goody bags and I will happily
create a page of prose to show off your company and link this
site to yours. All legal and moral money making ideas will be
seriously considered so try me..
So it's for me to say thank you for reading and hopefully for
helping us and our 2 charities, the Bob Champion
Cancer Trust and the Cambourne
Church Building Fund ...
